Warriors Fall to Fort Inspite of Gutsy Effort
The Warriors lost a heartbreaker 2-1 to Fort Washington. Warminster struck first in the top of the 4th inning when Mike Kerns came through again with a 2 out RBI Double. The Fort would answer right back in the bottom of the inning to lock the score at 1. Sean McClosky put together a great pitching performance to keep the Warriors in the game. McClosky left the bases loaded with 1 out and the 3 and 4 hitters coming to the plate. Scott Keeble came in and got the 3rd batter to pop out to shallow left and the 4th batter to fist one into shallow right field only to have Mike Corrigan come out of no where and make a diving catch to keep the score at one. The Warriors could not capitalize in the next few inning and with a runner on 2nd in the bottom of the 7th an rbi single gave Fort the win. The Warriors are back in action tonight July 10 at home, against Roslyn for a chance to meet Fort in the championship as well as a birth to the Region 3 Tournament. The loser will go home and start to prepare for next season. Tonight is a 5:30 start at Munro Park.
Doyle & Keeble Spark Warriors to Win Over Macs
The Warriors won and exciting opening round playoff game 4-3 over Horsham at Munro Park. Warminster struck in the first inning on a two out RBI double from Mike Kerns. The game would go back and forth with the Macs tying the game at 1 in the top of the 4th inning. The Warriors responded with a 2 run double from Scott Keeble in the bottom of the 4th inning to make the game 3-1. The Macs would not go down easily however getting those 2 runs back in the top of the 5th and tying the game at 3. The final run of the game would then be scored in the bottom of 6th inning. Keeble drew a 2 out walk, stole 2nd base, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored when the catcher threw the ball into left field in an attempt to gun Keeble out at 3rd. Dan Doyle then slammed to door in the 7th, but without ease. A walk and a steal set up the tying run on 2nd base. After an intentional walk to get a lefty/lefty matchup doyle got a pop-out to Cameron Goodell and the Warriors were on to face top seededFort Washington.
Playoff Bound!
My appoligies for not keeping the blog updated throughout the season. However it is playoff time again and the warriors won their last three games of the season to clinch the #2 seed in the double elimination tournament. The first game is on Wednesday July 8 with the rest of the tournament to follow. The Warriors will host #3 seed Horsham.
